In the ZineHS posts, I will share my research and writing journey in the law.
Zine. "Zine" stands for "magazine." I recently learned that "Zine" is pronounced like "seen" but with a "z" and not like "fine," "line," or "dine." I confirmed this using the online Merriam-Webster dictionary and the Oxford English Dictionary ("OED").
The OED informs, "The earliest known use of the noun zine is in the 1940s." It states that "zine typically occurs about 0.3 times per million words in modern written English" and shows that its use has been increasing:
HS. "HS" stands for Hani Sarji. I'm a lawyer who loves to research and write. I'm also very interested in technology. I have much to share about using Markdown, JavaScript, and Textexpander to write about the law.
My goals are to continue the following:
- Writing content and developing this site – Wills, Trusts, Estates (WTE) – to help others by providing general legal information.
- Publish ebooks about the law and other topics using Leanpub: https://leanpub.com/u/hsarji
- Automating legal forms.
- Helping colleagues and others by providing general legal information on WTE and other places.
- Using my knowledge and process to help clients with their legal problems, especially those in trusts and estates. (Clients have signed a retainer agreement for legal services with me.)
ZineHS. ZineHS is a tag on WTE that collects posts that explore the intersection of law and creativity.
As a lawyer-writer, I create many things and I hope to share my process through ZineHS:
- Legal documents, including petitions, pleadings, motions, forms, legal memorandum, legal briefs, and opinion letters.
- Posts and articles on legal topics and about the law, focusing on trusts and estates.
- Books about the law and other topics, specifically self-published ebooks.
- Computer code for . . .
- this website, using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- my books, using Markdown and JavaScript.
- my automated forms, using spreadsheets, Python, and JavaScript.
- Directories for files, specifically PDFs that are OCR'd and searchable.
I would love to hear about your process and workflow as a lawyer, writer, and creative. You can leave a comment below or contact me here.
